Electromagnetic theories of consciousness – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I’ve familiarized myself with the discussion on and criticism of the Quantum Mind wikipedia page. It seems to me that so far there is no satisfactory definition of what actually constitutes consciousness, much less a distinction between consciousness and awareness. And while pondering on both, it appears to me that current discussion on either is rather a debate on what constitutes identity and how we as human individuals each arrive at an idea of identity that serves as our reference point for everything else, i.e. the internal as well as external world. The only thing that seem obvious at this point is that so far no AI machine or device has been created that is self-aware. Which introduces another term: The Self. To me, the attempt of contemplating on consciousness seems futile so long as none of the above terms and ideas are sufficiently disambiguated from each other. Any thoughts?
