As a boy, I’ve often wondered, what my grandfathers may have seen during the war. There was erratic behaviour on their part, which I was never able to make sense of nor got satisfying answers from other family members. Today I know it’s the trauma they brought home from the war. All of them, whether injured or not.
Trauma finds its way into the DNA as this study shows. War leaves succeeding generations wounded, even if they never went to war themselves.
